Your body, your rule

Your body, your rule

With the rise of social media, body shaming has become more and more common. Statistics indicate that over 80% of teenage girls have been body-shamed around the world. Something like "I feel so fat today."; "Real women have curves"; "You have such a pretty face for your size" etc. are completely classical forms of body shaming.

What is body shaming? It is any time you talk or think negatively about your body or someone else’s. No matter how this manifests, it often leads to comparison and shame and perpetuates the idea that people should be judged mainly for their physical features.

It’s obvious that body shaming has long-lasting physical, emotional, and social effects. Plus, those who think negatively become less outgoing and have smaller social networks compared to people who are positive about themselves. We have to stop categorizing and judging women based on their bodies.

ALONG FIT believes that bodies come in all shapes and sizes and all bodies are valuable no matter what they look like or how healthy they are. But that doesn't mean many of us aren't subject to inadvertent shaming even by those closest to us or that we aren't accidentally shaming others without realizing it, too. We have to stop categorizing and judging women based on their bodies.

How do we shake it off?

  1. Stopnegative self-talk. They are the key to accepting your body for what it is. Come to think of it and you will realize that it almost requires the same amount of energy and effort to say good things to yourself as it takes to deal with the negative comments that cloud your head.
  2. Know body positivity is a time-consuming process. There is no denying that people don’t change overnight. You can try to simply be neutral before becoming positive towards your body.  For instance, try saying “this dress doesn’t make me feel my confident best” instead of “I look fat and ugly in this dress”.
  3. Realize that perfectlism does not exist. The lighting, photo-editing apps, and sheer expertise of technicians, who can make them look beyond perfect. But you don't have to try so hard, you don't have to give it all away to look like them. Trust me, you don’t have to.
  4. Exercise at any time. The reason behind this isn’t to pressure yourself to achieve your goal. The logic is rather simple. Indulging in physical activity can release the happy hormones in your body called endorphins. In this case, it will uplift your mood and make your body feel good. When you are working out, you may worry about the leggings squat proof test. Here we recommend you our mesh series, they offer protection on non-see-through and squat proof which fit on your waist, hips, and legs without digging you in. It is very awesome, right?

At last, we would like to say: Be yourself, love your body. Whether you are curvy or lean, it’s totally up to you. Nobody is perfect as everyone has lacked something in their parameter. So our bodies must not be shamed for what they are.
